I'd like to have the sitemap control in my masterpage, and have all childmasterpages use it too...but adding it to the template doesnt seem to migrate down?  Is it possible?

    Hello Steve,

Please, refer to the following KB which explains in details why controls put in the parent template through Sitefinity are not applied in the child templates: Does Sitefinity support nested master pages?

Please describe in details if there is some misunderstanding.

    Kind regards,
    Pepi

Hmmm, am I able to add the exiting sitefinity controls to my masterpage in the markup directly?

that's one of the coolest things about sitefinity! most of the controls are just .net controls that can be added to any level, at the page, control or even master page (even at run time if you needed to)...

just make sure you register the control on your page, for breadcrumb, add this to your master page:

    <%

    @ Register TagPrefix="sfweb" Namespace="Telerik.Cms.Web.UI" Assembly="Telerik.Cms.Web.UI" %>

then you can add the control directly to the page:

    <

    sfweb:Breadcrumb ID="bCrumb" runat="server" PathSeparator=" ¯ " onitemcreated="bCrumb_ItemCreated" />

notice I have an event handler, which lets me further refine the control based on my needs.

    not too shabby :)
