Not a background service exactly, but any code that will run on  regular basis? (like a cron)

I have a cleanup script that I want to run every hour, and was going to implement it using a timer created in the global.asax, but wanted to know if SiteFinity had any API to go with this sort of thing.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Wakefly,

not at the moment, however we have already implemented this functionality for Sitefinity 4.0 and will ship it then. Namely, it is called "Scheduling service" and it will support executing arbitrarily actions in intervals (e.g. every day at 1 AM) or at specific time (e.g. July 1st 2009 at 9:00 pm). We will have several predefined actions such as (publish page, unpublish page, start search indexing etc.), but also we will provide fully exposed API for developers to hook up their own actions and then allow end users to schedule these actions.

I am sorry that I was not able to help you more at this moment.

    All the best,
    the Telerik team
