    Hi,

    We use Advantage Database Server.

    Does SiteFinity work with it?

    Regards

    Hi Mike,

You can see the supported database engines by Nolics from here. This is what we use for our DAL. You can write your application's DAL with whatever you want - OpenAccess, Entity, Linq to SQL, or direct queries.

We will move to OpenAccess for 4.0, but right now we are not using it.

In short, Sitefinity, as of now, doesn't work with it (built-in modules). If you are willing to do so, you can implement custom providers with OpenAccess (a breeze working with it, really), and store your data in any of the supported database engines.

    All the best,

    OK,

As long as you will be using OpenAccess for version 4 then that is fine.

I will wait. I am unable to use Microsoft SQL or Oracle, only Firebird, ADS and MySql but my companies applications are all on ADS so it would be better to wait for that.

Any idea when version 4 will be available or at least an estimate e.g. this year, next year?

    Regards

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

The first Sitefinity 4.0 beta/preview versions will be available in the end of July/beginning of August. Overall, we expect the completed version by the end of this year.

    All the best,
