We want to create certain pages that are associated with specific users. If the authorized user is not logged in, his page should not be available and should not appear in the navigation. However, if he is logged in, the page should appear in the navigation and be available to him.

I thought that deny anonymous access would accomplish this, but the page still shows up in the navigation if no one is logged in. I see that I can select "no" for "Show in navigation", but then I expect I'd have to add code to the master page to detect when the user is logged in and show the page in navigation.

    Am I missing something here?

    Thanks,
    Jenn

    Hi Jenn Bohm,

If Anonymous Access is set to Deny not authenticated users do not see this page in the navigation. the page can be accessed only when an user has been authenticated and he/she has at least "View" permissions set from page Permissions tab.

    Sincerely yours,

    Ivan,

Thanks for the reply. I found out what my problem was. When I ran the project from Visual Studio, it was actually having the admin account logged in and I didn't realize it. I had thought that no one was logged in. I fixed it so that the admin was logged out, and sure enough, the page did not appear in navigation. It's working just as I expected.

    Hi

I am facing the same issue.

i need to hide the pages from the navigation menu before a user is logged in.

from the permissions of the page, i granted "everyone" permission to view the page. i explicitly denied "anonymous" to view the page.

when no one is logged in, the pages don't show in the navigation.

when i log in, they show.

if i log off and log in again , they will not show anymore.

    any help please?

    thanks

    lama
