    Hi Team,

We had deployed our first UAT deployment at our client site, now we are getting ready for the second UAT. this time we are planing to deploy only the changes that we did after the first deployment, for that we need a proper deployment plan.

Any  ideas? on how can we track the changes only and deploy.

    Regards,

    Hello Thavarajah,

Sitefinity does not have an option that will allow you to monitor changes. You need a third party software that monitors database changes and file system differences.

    Hi Thavarajah,

Install the third party tool that will monitor for database and file system changes made after the first deployment. Then create a new project on the new server and merge only the difference you want to add. Sitefinity itself does not monitor file and database changes for a given period of time.

    I have following clarifications?

    1. Can you please suggest a third party software.
    2. Let say if I want to deploy my sitefinity site into  a production server there I have created a sitefinity site, what is the best way to move the content DB including roles and permission set?

So far we used to restore the content DB and it seems that it is not the way to do this

    Best regards
    Vimal

    Hello Thavarajah,

You can use RedGate. Users data is stored inside the database

    • telerik_UsersInRoles
    • telerik_Users
    • telerik_UserMetaInfo
    • telerik_Roles
    • telerik_Profile

    Thanks Ivan,

As of my scenario, I have deployed already my site, I need to deploy the changes on top of it.

Can please tell me what other tables which I need to check and insert/update? so that I can do it manually, I am not going to do with RedGate now since I do not have enough time to study it do.  today itself I need to deply.

    Hi Ivan,

Let me clarify the question, we have two Sitefinity servers, development and UAT. These two do not exist on the same network so we need some way to transport the Sitefinity data (pages, permissions, configurations, etc) from development to UAT other than doing a database export and import as we have other custom tables that cannot be overwritten.

Can you suggest the best way to essentially migrate one Sitefinity instance to another remote instance please.

    Thanks.

    Hello Thavarajah,

What would be the problem for you with the suggestions provided so far? Have you considered database mirroring?
