I just finished installing SiteFinity on windows server 2008. Is there a way to entirely/partially import an already existing .NET project (ASP.NET) into SiteFinity with some minor changes in the code of course. I could only see an "export" under Administration->Tools section but no import. I am new to SiteFinity so a detailed help/guidance would be much appreciated.

    THANKS.

    Hello Viren,

Thank you for using our services.

Could you please clarify a little bit more on your requirements. Basically if your system has API you can use it to create modules for Sitefinity which will let you manage data in your application from your Sitefinity back-end. Furthermore if you do not wish to manage data from Sitefinity and you just need to pull data from your application and re-use its controls you can wrap your controls in ascx files and add them to the Sitefinity toolbox. If the controls can be used on regular ASP.NET website they would also work in Sitefinity.

Thank you for your guidance. I have a windows WPF forms application and also a WPF web application that I need to control/manage/import into Sitefinity. Basically I want to move from a WPF project built in Visual Studio 2010/.NET 4.0 to Sitefinity. It is a C#.NET WPF application running on Windows server 2008 and using .NET4. However after successful migration to Sitefinity (if it is possible to do it) I would still want to open and project in Visual Studio 2010 to work on it. Is this possible? I hope that these specifications help  you in understanding my concerns.

    Thanks.

    Hi Viren,

Sitefinity 3.x edition does not support .NET Framework 4.0. and there are some issues with this. As for VS 2010 there is no problem, but if you run Sitefinity against .NET Framework 4.0 you will face some issues. 3.x edition support .NET 3.5 and 2.0.
