    Hi,

As I understand it I can create Templates with Generic content and use these Templates to create Pages.
These pages can then be edited with further content area`s.

However I dont seem to be able to lock down the 'Add controls' toolbox.

I want certain users to be able to Edit Pages but NOT be able to add any other content controls to it.

Is this possible? and if so how?

    Many thanks

    Chris

    Hi Ivan,

    thanks that helps alot.

Can we also create Templates that have editable areas per page?

i.e. I create a template that has a generic content control. I then want to be able to add content per page to this content control.

    Many thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris Warner,

By default the controls added to the template cannot be edited from pages.

    Hi Ivan,

Does 'by defualt' imply that we can change this behaviour?

Essentially we want to be able to provide end users with 'Templates' that can be used for pages with editable areas without the need for a user to define where the editable area`s are.

    So the workflow will be.

User creates new page > user selects template > user edit`s pre-defined editable areas

It seems this is not possible currently?

    thanks once again

    Chris

    Hi Chris Warner,

When you edit a page there is a div that overlaps the controls defined in the master page. Also it does not make sense to have access to the control defined in template on the page level. If you have 100 pages that use this template and you change the content of the control defined in the template this will apply to these 100 pages. The changes to the template controls have to be made only on template level.

You could create predefined areas on which you have added some controls, so that a user will know where and what to do.

    Kind regards,

    Hello Chris Warner,

In 4.0 you will have option to build your own templates through the UI. We will support similar functionality as this one described in the KB as well.

    Ivan,

    One more quick question,

I want to inject these content areas when I first create the page, when using workflow this will be when the page is first created and at draft stage. However the page action event doesnt fire at this point. Is there any other event I can hook into?

    thanks

    Chris

EDIT : I suppose i can use the CreatePage commandName :)

    Hello Chris Warner,

The event fires only when you call Publish command name. There are not global events thrown for the stages when you use workflow. You could create a custom workflow and manipulate the page depending on the status. Here is  a sample code - How to notify roles that a page has been sent through workflow
