    Dear all,
This is to let you know that Sitefinity 3.6 is now available for download in the Download section of your accounts. Sitefinity 3.6 is the first version to come for both .NET 3.5 and .NET 2.0.

Our team is working to update the documentation and will post any new additions in the coming weeks.

If you need to upgrade projects created with previous versions directly to the official release of 3.6., please, use these instructions:
    Applying a patch

A list of the things covered in this release is below:

    What’s New

    Pages
    -    The default Page properties can be set through the web.config file
    -    ViewState can be disabled per Page in section Page Options
    -    Page Sliding expiration cache property was implemented, with Page cache duration time option

(Included in Sitefinity v.3.6 on .NET 3.5 only.)

I'm not sure if this is just me, but I got all kinds of conflicts in Telerik.Web.UI. The web.config supplied with the patch references

    Telerik.Web.UI, Version=2008.3.1125.35, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121fae78165ba3d4

however, the version of Telerik Controls that is distributed in the bin is 2008.3.1314.35.

removing everything in web.config after Telerik.Web.UI made it work again...

I also had to delete Telerik.Charting.DLL from the bin folder...

I may have overlooked these instructions somewhere but looking over everything I don't see anything that references this problem...

at any rate, after making these changes my site finally compiled and is running! now I gotta go in and tweak :)

thanks again telerik, looking forward to really getting into this one!

What are the known bugs, and have you scheduled in a patch release date yet?

I'd rather you be honest and wait than discover i have to do a patch later down the line

    thanks

    Hi Jeremy,

    Thank you for your feedback.

Shannon, If you want ot upgrade from beta you need to appla a patch to the current official release. Note that there are two patches - one is build against 3.5 and another against 2.0.

    Sorry Georgi i missed that

    thanks for pointing it out

did you have a rough ball park time scale for when a hotfix will be released?
    i.e. 7 days, 30 days, 60days

I need to make some decisions based on this.
    Thanks

I'm not sure if the requirements have been updated but I found out the hard way: .NET Framework 3.5 is required starting with this release.

When I ran it with only 2.0, I got an error stating the "System.Core" assembly was missing. After realizing this comes from .NET 3.5, I installed it and Sitefinity is up and running.

i hit quite a few snags on the upgrade, but mainly centered in my custom secured intrasite modules... after reading todays kb and getting the security issue fixed, I've spent the better part of the day upgrading my modules to work in the new backend system...

I must say I'm very pleased! I've long disliked the use of postbacks and multiviews to cram all the views into one page for my custom modules. Now I can add as many as I want (and I do need several for each module!) and they all work through the query string instead of postbacks!! awesome great stuff!

i'm still not done but I can already see the enormous potential for streamlining new modules! thanks sitefinity, don't let the minor snags get to you, this is a great release!!

    Hello,

We are glad for the positive feedback.
Quade, we are going to release a hotfix by the end of this week. It will address most of the issues we found with the 3.6 release. Then we will have another service pack shortly after the 2009 Q1release of the controls. Our main purpose with it will be to deliver the latest pack of the RadControls.

    Thanks Georgi

    Thats great news
I'm looking for a nice stable solid version
So i'll probably wait until the new controls are integrated as i'm sure there will be a few other fixes.

    :)

    Hi Jason M,

we will release the service pack shortly after the service pack for RadControls is released, so that we can include the latest version of RadControls. All this being said, we are aiming for the first half of the April.

I hope you'll find this information helpful. Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

    Hi,

I am facing a problem with my current RAD editor. I have a website which has multiple languages so each language is setup under a sub domain. Example - the main site is www.domain.com and the french site is under fr.domain.com, greek site under gr.domain.com
The problem is that on one of the images on the greek site (gr.domain.com) using the RAD editor, I need to place a link back to the main page of the english (parent) site. but when i use the hyperlink manager to do so, it recreates a relative url and looks up for that page on the greek site itself rather than going to the english site. and that page does not exist under the main site, so its not found.

I want to know if there is a way in the RAD editor to make it avoid creating a relative URL so that links can be inserted across domains.

    Kindly respond.
    Cheers,
    Vineet

    Hello Vineet Gandhi,

The RadEditor supports converting from dynamic to static links, but in Sitefinity we are using different kind of dynamic links, which are resolved in runtime. In such cases, you should edit the content in html mode and manually fix the link.

Please use the appropriate forum categories for submitting your inquires.
