I just downloaded the trial and am trying to install it onto a fresh XP computer.

After the installer goes through the extraction, asks the questions, and then starts the install, I get this:

Error 1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action IISReset, location: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\MSIA0C.tmp, command:

And the installer exits. Any idea what the problem might be?

    Thanks,

    J.R.

    Hello J.R.,

Please, use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility that is offered by Microsoft to uninstall Sitefinity. Make sure no files and folders remain in the installation folder.

In the attachment you can find a copy of the Sitefinity Installation Guide. Please read our System Requirements before you proceed with the new installation and
make sure that your computer suits all of them. One of the most common reasons for such error is that there is no .Net Framework v 2.0 installed on the machine.

Do let us know how it goes.

    Sincerely yours,

Just to close this out, I did what you said and installed Dotnet2 and the install worked.

I then had to install SQL Server Express, but was told I had to load DOTNET 2 SP1 first, so am doing that now.

I probably should have read the installation manual, but I'm a guy... its funner this way.  ;-)

Seriously, I'll try a little more research before asking silly questions in the future.

Thanks, and you can consider this closed.
