No matter what I do, I can't seem to get images in an Image Library in  to show up when I run a site locally (IIS 5.5, Windows XP).
When running on our staging server (IIS 6) connected to the same DB, they show up fine. Also, when running locally, debugging from Visual Studio (using the Visual Studio Web Server), they show up.

    I've done the steps here:
    http://www.sitefinity.com/sf3/troubleshooting.html#31

and still get a 404 page when trying to view an image.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi John,

Looking at your account, I noticed that you have only Sitefinity 3.5 downloaded. The instructions which you have followed do not apply to Sitefinity 3.5. Still the problem should be related to the configuration of the IIS5 server.

Since Sitefinity 3.5 is using default asp.net handlers for items in the Images and Documents module (ashx), therefore it is not really necessary to do any additional settings in order to have the images displayed.

Could you elaborate on your settings about these handlers?

    Kind regards,
    Georgi

I'm having problems getting the libraries to work locally on my Vista x64 machine using the empty 3.5 SP1 project. Everything else works tho which has me a bit confused.

Is there any known security check I need to disable to get it to work correctly?

    Hello Andreas,

Could you elaborate a bit more more on the problem? You do not see the uploaded items, the images are not rendered? What happens if you load the image directly in your browser? Do you get 404 error page? You can also attach a screenshot.

    Thank in advance.

    Kind regards,
    Georgi

Yes, the images appear to be in the database, however, they are not rendered in the thumbnails in the image library. From the image library, when I click "View Original", I am directed to an ashx file (e.g. myfile.sflb.ashx) and am served a 404 error.

The when i connect to the same database from a SiteFinity site on our staging server (running IIS 6) i see the images fine. Just not on my development box.

    Hello John,

Probably this is an issue to IIS 5, may be some settings are not set correctly, because as I see it, everything works fine when you connect the project from another server (IIS6) to the same DB. Could you check whether you have enabled Request path for *.ashx with Permissions read and script, Access script, Verbs GET,HEAD,POST,DEBUG in IIS 5.5 under HandlerMappings section.
Any additional information will be helpful determining this issue.

    Kind regards,

    Hi again.

Yes Im getting 404 when trying to access the files directly (*.sflb.ashx). The items gets added to the db but I cant view or access any of them. Im using Vista Ultimate x64 and the empty 3.5 SP1 project. This is when trying to get it work locally on my machine. I havent tested it on a server yet but will do shortly.

    Hi Ivan,

I've confirmed that the Request path for *.ashx are set for GET,HEAD,POST,DEBUG in IIS 5.5.

I'm not sure what you mean by:

"Request path for *.ashx with Permissions read and script, Access script"

But i do have Execute permissions for Scripts and Executables set, and I have Script source access and Read checked in the Virtual directory settings.

Let me know what other information I can give you to help.

    Hello John,

It seems that there is some kind of problem with IIS 5.x. We cannot reproduce 404 at our end.

I just moved the project over to the server and it works perfectly there (images showing etc) on IIS 6.0. Still no go locally tho.

Is there anything I have to do installationwise compared to earlier versions? Never had this problem before. Just checked a 3.2 version locally and it works fine, thats the .sflb extensions tho so I guess its kinda meaningless to compare. ;-P

    Hi Andreas,

Тhank you for getting back to me.

My suggestion is to use the latest releases and patches. We removed adding extensions in version 3.5 for Images & Document content handlers and they do not require additional mapping in IIS.

I'm having this same problem with version 3.7 on IIS7

I've tried suggestions above and nothing seems to work. The image successfully gets uploaded to the server but it is never rendered in the browser through sitefinity. If I manually browse to the location of the image it will render in the browser.

I have mappings for *.sflb and *.sflb.ashx.
