I'm new to Sitefinity, though I've worked with Telerik controls for a long time.  I went through the install process on our Win2008 webserver, and I got the sense that I maybe should have done that install on my development box then deployed a site to the web server.

At this point I'm just putting this together for a basic corporate website, so I'm not sure whether I'll be dong any outside-the-box development that might require Visual Studio work (versus the modifications supported by the Sitefinity admin interface).  At some point we may integrate it into our existing ASP.NET MVC client portal, but that's down the road.

In looking through the docs, nothing jumped out at me on best practices...what would you guys recommend?

    Hello Josh Anderson,

Thank you for using our services.

Our recommendation is that you install the software only on your development machines. For production servers we would recommend that you do not install it, as a Sitefinity website is self contained it does not need installation to run the CMS on a production server.

    All the best,
