    Hi,
I couldn't find installation instructions for windows 7, so I used the Vista install guide. When it came time to navigate to http://localhost/telerik/Sitefinity3.7, I got the following error:

    HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized

You are not authorized to view this page due to invalid authentication headers.

Following the steps in the Vista install, I noticed that although step10 reads: "Ensure that Windows Authentication is Enabled"  there is no windows authentication for me to enable or disable in this window; maybe this is part of the problem.

I only have a short time to evaluate this product so if anyone can help out it would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks.

I think I've answered my own question. Seems that you cannot configure Windows authentication for iis7 on Windows 7 Home Premium, so I won't be able to evaluate this product on this machine.

    Hello candice,

You should be able to install Sitefinity on Windows 7  Home edition  without Windows Authentication which does not exist in the OS version you have.

    1. You need to install IIS Metabase compatibility

    2. After the installation of Sitefinity's Project Manager complete you need to set the authentication rules of telerik virtual directory

    • Anonymous authentication - enabled
    • ASP.NET Impersonation - enabled
    • Basic Authentication - enabled
    • Forms Authentication - enabled

Inside telerik directory there will be another directory of the exact version of Sitefinity you have installed. Over this directory you have to set

    • Anonymous authentication - disabled
    • ASP.NET Impersonation - disabled
    • Basic Authentication - enabled
    • Forms Authentication - disabled
You can always use Visual Studio built-in web server to run the project which will not require to host it under IIS.

    Sincerely yours,
    Ivan Dimitrov

Ivan, thank you for the info.
I do have IIS metabase compatibility installed.
I changed the settings in IIS as you listed below - except that I do not have an option for Basic Authentication.
When I  try to visit http://localhost/telerik/Sitefinity3.7, I get the following error:

    HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized

You are not authorized to view this page due to invalid authentication headers.

    More info that appears:
    Module IIS Web Core
    Notification AuthenticateRequest
    Handler StaticFile
    Error Code 0x80070005
    Requested URL http://localhost:80/telerik/Sitefinity3.7
    Physical Path C:\Program Files (x86)\telerik\Sitefinity3.7\ProjectManager
    Logon Method Not yet determined
    Logon User Not yet determined

Where do you suggest I go from here?
    thanks.
    Candice

    Ivan,
Can you please explain how to do that? Do I need to download something else, or can I use my installation at c:\program files (x86)\kenticocms\5.5  - if so, what file do I open here?

    thanks,
    Candice
