    - I have just installed the Community product. When I select SiteFinity3.1 Community from the start menu I get a login box. Nothing I enter here seems to work. I am admin on this box - my COMPUTER NAME\username does not work. Reading other install issues on the Forum I changed the IIS permissions on the site to "allow anonymous users". That eliminates the login box but then when I try to create a new project it says I do not have permission - anonymous users cannot create projects. I'm stuck :( - Any other suggestions?? Much appreciated - thanks!

    Hello Kelly,

We don't see any problems with the steps you have done.

Could you please try the following in the machine where Sitefinity is installed, to ensure that there is no problem with your account:
    • Rollback the settings that you have done with IIS, as well as the setting for "allow anonymous users".
    • Create a new account, set its password and add it to the administrators group.
    • Run the ProjectManager and when the windows authentication alert pops up, enter the username and password of the account you have created.
Please, let us know how it goes and if you still have problems, send us screenshots of the errors you get.

    Hi Georgi.

That worked! The account was originally defaulted to the IUSR_ account. I added my account in IIS and everything worked. I did also have to add the account to the newly created web project as well.

    - Thanks!

    Georgi,
How exactly did you do this? I'm running Windows XP with IIS 5.1 and trying to get into the community edition of the 3.2 software.... I dont see where I can assign a user to a specific folder or service.

I tried the solution of creating a new user, making it an admin and then retrying the loggin but that didnt work for me. I'm sure its something very simple but I just cant figure it out and Im going nuts here.

I have anonymous user disabled, I made sure that ASP authorizations were with windows, I've done everything I know how to do, now i'm thinking maybe I'm missing something critical. I've read, reread, then read again the installation PDF file, but get frustrated when all it references is Vista.... Lots of people dont have freaking Vista.

A step by step guide to solve this would be killer!!

Thanks and sorry for the rant but I really would like this to work... its exactly what I need as a solution... I'm a designer, not a server admin so I get real frustrated dealing with this kind of stuff... thanks again.

    Hi Luis,

It seems that there is a problem with your IIS configuration and something is going wrong. Could you please try some of the follwing approaches:

    • If you are using Firefox, please make sure you submit your Windows account username and password.
    • You could try enabling Anonymous authentication in IIS. I have attached a screenshot of these settings. In this case you will be not prompted for user and password in Firefox
    • You could also try using Internet Explorer, because it inherits the user account with which you are logged in Windows.

Once you pass this step, you should be able to see the project manager or Sitefinity login form. Let me know about the results, and if we are missing something.

    Best wishes,
