I just did a clean install of 3.2 (no upgrade, new database).

On the Pages page (pages.aspx), I'm getting javascript errors, both on a new Project that I created and on the sample University project.

    The javascript errors are:

    Line: 61
    Char: 1
    Error: 'SiteMapPanel' is undefined
    Code: 0

    and ....

    Line 540
    Char: 1
    Error: 'CmsPageViewer' is undefined
    Code: 0

Because of these errors, I don't get the little page menu that pops up in the left column and says (I copied this text from the 3.1 demo that's running on sitefinity.com):

    Select a page above and:

I am experiencing the same problems. The problem goes away when I uninstall and reinstall the beta.

    Hello Chris, Ric

Unfortunately, we cannot reproduce the issue you are facing. The Java script error is not familiar to us and is not similar to any problems reported for our product so far so we would need more information about it. Are there some specific settings configured which may be important for the investigation? What is the type of database you are using?

Please note that we have addressed many of the known issues since the beta release, so please confirm the exact product version and date of downloading it. Yesterday afternoon (about 12 pm Eastern Time) we uploaded the latest version of Sitefinity 3.2, so if you are not running it please try reproducing the reported behavior once you install it.

Please send us the requested information at your earliest convenience. Thank you.

    All the best,
    Nikifor Hristov

    • I have now tried this several times, here are the results on my XP machine running IE 7.

    1. If you upgrade the beta 3.2 build 1485 to the newest release 3.2 (downloaded from My Client.net), everything works fine. That is, when I already have the beta installed and then upgrade to the release 3.2 version everything is OK.

    2. If you do a "clean install", that is, if you first uninstall any Sitefinity build completely (using add/remove programs, then deleting ALL the files and directories and the SQL Server database). Then after everything is removed, install the release 3.2, you get JavaScript errors when attempting to do just about anything in the Pages module. These errors show up as little yellow icons in the bottom left of Internet Explorer and the page features don't work properly.

Bottom line is that it doesn't work if you install 3.2 on a new machine, having never installed a previous version.

    Hi,

I verified my installed version, which is 3.2.1500.2, when looking at the version of the Telerik.Cms.dll, so I'm certain I downloaded and installed the correct version.

My platform is Vista x86, IE7, VS2005.  I previously installed and ran Sitefinity with no problems under Vista, and I can run all of the other pages in the SiteFinity admin, just not this one :).

My culture settings are English, United States.

Like Rick, I installed the beta release, and it ran with no problems.  I then uninstalled the beta, deleted all remaining files in the directory, and deleted the SQL database.  When I installed the release version, I ran setup and when the Project Wizard started, I created a new SQL 2005 database.  The SQL server is on my local machine, and I'm running with the sa account.

However, as I mentioned, I also see the same error in the University demo site, and that's running with SQL Express, obviously, which is also installed on my box and in that case, I'm logging in with Windows auth.

I don't think the problem has anything to do with SQL.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hello Chris, Ric

I am really sorry but I tried all different scenarios mentioned by both of you, and I was unable to reproduce this error. I started with deleting everything (Database and projects) and making a clean install, but unfortunately did not notice the reported behavior. I used the Standard version of the latest builds for all my tests. We have received a JavaScript Bug Report only once in the past, but the situation has nothing to do with the one which you experience.

Could you please provide us with a public access to the site (sites) so that we investigate the error.

Once again, thank you for your time.

    Sincerely yours,
    Nikifor

I can no longer get the problem to occur. I am using the standard version and the latest build. Clearly the problem had nothing to do with the database. When the problem was occuring there were many different javascript errors. It was as if an entire javascript library was missing or disabled. Suggest you try installing 3.2 on a machine with a newly reformatted hard disk. The problem is serious in that you simply can't edit any pages at all.

    Hi,

I tried to repro this at home over the weekend on an XP-based virtual machine I created, but I couldn't.  It installed and ran successfully.  Then, I installed in on my main (home) dev machine, a 64-bit Vista box that's almost exactly like my work box.  It installed and ran successfully there as well.

When I came into work, I uninstalled the existing version that was giving me trouble, deleted the db, and deleted all files from the telerik directory.  I re-downloaded the version from client.net, and installed again, and I don't have any issues any more.

Not sure if it was the download, or something configuration related, but I can't repro the problem either.

    Thanks,

    Chris
