    Hello,

I will install the 3.2 version,  it is not clear to me how to deal with the  ms sql 2005 database.   Do I need to create a db  prior to the installation?  How will it be named?  Please list the steps  to  perform the whole  db  configuration.  Thanks.

    Hello Antonio ,

Thank you very much for getting in touch with us.

You can find answers to these and many other questions which may occur during the creation of a web project in the User Manual, section Creating projects. There, you could find instructions specifically for your scenario (this is page 57 for the User Manual in Sitefinity 3.2).

Hope that the provided information is helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

    Greetings,
    Nikifor

I have SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2005 Express installed. When I create a new project and I want to go to 'Administer' the site, it seems like the wizard skips the configuration section. I'm not able to choose a database, administrator etc.

I'm directly redirected to the login page. I can't login, because I don't know the username and password, since I haven't configured that.

    What to do?

    Daniel

    Hello Daniel,

We had several similar reports recently but haven't heard back from anyone, so we are not sure whether our advice helped or not and we could not reproduce it locally.
Are you using Vista by any chance? If yes, please make sure the project virtual directory is placed in the Classic.NET AppPool, check the pool's settings and restart the application.

You should then be able to get to the second step of the project startup wizard (~/sitefinity/cmsstartup.aspx).

For more details, you can refer to the Installing Sitefinity under Windows® Vista section of the Sitefinity User Manual.

Let us know if the problem still persists. Most probably we'll need remote access to your machine.

    Sincerely yours,
    Rebecca

    Hi Rebecca,

I followed your instructions and now it works. Right after creating the project you get a confirmation that the project is succesfully created. Then you can go to 'Administer the project'.

Before I did this, I checked the virtual directory in IIS and changed the pool to 'Classic'.

Then I restarted the Classic Pool and restarted the web application. Then the wizard continued to configure the database.

    Thanks,
    Daniel
