    Hi there,

I know variations of this question have been asked before but I would like to find out if the following is possible.

If I have a client who has four or five domains, which are all different, but come under the umbrella of one company, do I need to get them to purchase one license or one for each domain.

If you imagine, my client has a four domains

All these domains relate to different branches of the company, but are all part of the one company. They will all be hosted on one server and the company will require authors and adminstrators to login using one instance of Sitefinity to access any one of the companies domains and update their information.

Does this client need to purchase one license for each domain, or do they just need to buy one license as each domain will technically be accessing one IP address?

Sorry if this seems confusing, but I can't use specific examples. This is a guideline to my requirements.

    Thanks for your help...

I think that you need to purchase as many licenses as the number of your domains since I believe that the license agreement require so.
I think that one license applies for a domain alias or forwarding, however, each request resolves the same page.
You'd better contact sales person for more details.

    Hi Tady,

    Thank you for contacting us.

I noticed you said you were updating these sites using one instance of Sitefinity, so it sounds like you have one site with several domain aliases. Am I correct? In this scenario, you would only need one Sitefinity Standard Edition license. We would also have you sign an annex to the Sitefinity license agreement stating that these are domain aliases and not separate websites.

Our license policy for the Standard Edition is simple to follow. Our license policy for Sitefinity is per domain for $899. You can use the license on an unlimited number of sub domains, servers, machines and developers. The license also comes with 1 year of our subscription package, guaranteeing a 2 business day turnaround on technical inquiries via our support ticket system. The subscription also comes with major and minor upgrades for 1 year. Renewing the subscription is 30% of the cost of the license, which is $270. For more info on our license policy, please check out our Buy Now Page.

Regardless of how many servers you use or whether the websites are part of one company, if these websites are five totally different sites (i.e. yahoo.com, google.com, telerik.com, microsoft.com, facebook.com), you would need five licenses for these five domains. As an alternative, you could assign sub-domains to these sites and these would be complimentary because Sitefinity only regulates the top level domain.

I hope that I have clarified our license policy for you. We would be happy to answer any other sales or licensing  questions that you might have. Please e-mail us at sales@telerik.com and a member of our team shall give you online ordering instructions, a quote for PO purposes, or answer additional inquiries.

    All the best,
