    Hi,

Is there anyway to re-use a site structure?

I have a site with multiple installtions and what I would like to do is re-use the page structure created on the first instance for the others. This way I can go in and change only the things that are different, without having to create everything again from zero.

    Thanks,

    Sebastian

    Hi Ivan,

I don't know if I made myself clear. Let me try explaining again.

I have to create 4 sites for the same company. These sites will share about 50% of the content between them and the other 50% will be specific for each one.

What we did was to create different Applications that are sharing the generic content. With this we solved the issue of sharing the content. The problem now is that we create the page structure for the first site (create a template, create a page and populating it) and we would like to know if there is anyway we can reproduce (create it through a script or something) this structure without having to create each page manually again.

    Thanks,

    Sebastian

    Hi Sebastian Menendez,

I am sorry I have answered different question and posted in the wrong place.

Sitefinity has built in exported that you can use to export all data from pages in the Pages section as well as data from the following modules: Generic Content, News, Lists, Blogs.
The tool is located under Administration >> Tools section.

    Hi Ivan,

    I imagined.

But how do I later import that to an already existing database?

    Hello Sebastian Menendez,

If you want to use the same database you need to change the applicationName property in the cms node of the web.config file, because there will be existing website with the same application name in the database.
You can gather additional information from our User Manual section Exporting Web Sites as Templates
Another option is creating a sql scipts and some tool that uses Sitefinity API to migrate all pages.

Let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you.

    Best wishes,
