I tried to do a good search for any documentation or other questions matching this and did not find any, however if I've overlooked a duplicate post somewhere I will accept a "redirect" gladly...

    ...that said...

Attempting to install evaluation copy of the SiteFinity 5.0 Enterprise Edition.
All seems to go without issue, and then near what seems to be the end of the install I see this message:

The specified cryptographic algorithm is not supported on this platform.

I accepted all defalults as part of the setup.
Cannot seem to isolate why this error is happening.

Closing the window and attempting to open the administrator for the created project does produce what appears to be the standard login screen.

I provide the credentials I created as part of the installation process and then I get returned to this screen again.

    Any ideas??

    Hello Dan,

Unfortunately the SHA256 algorithm that we use for encrypting is not supported in Windows XP. Here's an article on this:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/csharplanguage/thread/04328b17-aeea-439a-9574-e6e0a7ce8040
Actually we do not officially support Windows XP, so such errors are completely possible if you are running under XP.

Is there a fix around it? Can Sitefinity use another algorithm?

The doc says XP is supported:

Hope we get a fix from telerik very soon. You have a reputation of providing very good support and am sure we won't be disappointed.

    Hello,

It seems this cryptography approach is supported in Windows XP SP3. Perhaps you may try installing this update?

I had Windows XP SP3 running. Still got the error message. However I can't confirm that my installation of SP3 had the cryptography installed. Thanks for response.
