    Hi Guys,

Shared content is AWESOME but when you have a massive project you are working on and you have shared multiple Generic Content sections, it does become messy.

What I have resorted to is something like this when I name my shared content:

[About Us] - Leadership - BOD - James van der Hoven

(where BOD would stand for Board of Directors)

If I am looking for the name of a shared content quickly though, it would be nice to open a currently shared content and have the name of the shared content displayed when the modal window pops up. Something like the attached image?

    Cheers

    Hi James,

Thank you for your suggestion. The only way to have the title of a shared content shown in Sitefinity 3.x is implementing custom logic in the designer. You should create a custom class that inehrits from  GenericContentDesigner and override OnSaving method where you can call this.DesignedControl.ContentID which will return the IContent object ID. This will allow you to call GetMetaData("Name") and set the returned value to Text of a Label that should be added in the custom control template.  You might find this KB useful.

    Sincerely yours,

Thanks Ivan. Not going to worry about this too much...maybe it's a little better in version 4 :)

    Cheers
