    While hyperlink manager on generic content has the option to add a file as type it would be great to have the option to selec it as it works document manager. The reason why I don't use document manager for this is that document manager has no option to add a link text. If I want to display a more readable name for a file then I have to edit source or create a link adding the path manually.

    Hi Vagelis Kretsimos,

    The functionality you want can be achieved using both the document manager and hyperlink manager. First, open the document manager and select the file you want. Then place the text cursor in the text generated by the document manager (which is actually the path to the file). Then open hyperlink manager, it will display the options for the link and you can edit the link text to make it more readable. You can even edit the generated text in-place without using the hyperlink manager - you would achieve the same thing.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Slavo,

    This functionality is not available on lists (file and flash buttons are not enabled) so it's a little difficult to be used. Iagree that there is a way to bypass it but I'm thinking from the side of an end user who will use it for daily purposes. From that point it's not acceptable.

    Anyway what I need to enable on lists toolbar the same options as on generic content?

    Best regards

    Vagelis

    Hello Vagelis,

    The RadEditor used in Sitefinity can be configured separately for all modules that use it. There is an XML configuration file, and here is how you can enable the Document Manager and Flash Manager for use in the RadEditor for Lists. Open the file /Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Lists/ToolsFile.xml. Find the section <tools name="InsertToolbar"> and edit the entry for DocumentManager and FlashManager to set enabled="true":

    <tools name="InsertToolbar" dockable="false">
        <tool name="FlashManager" enabled="true"/>
        <tool name="MediaManager" enabled="false"/>
        <tool name="DocumentManager" enabled="true"/>
    ...
    </tools>

    Now you should be able to see them when editing list items.

    Note that if you want to be able to upload files you need to specify corresponding folder paths and give them appropriate permissions. Please see RadEditor documentation for more details.

    Regarding your suggestion about selection of files in the HyperLink Manager, we will bring it to the attention of our colleagues working on RadEditor.
