There are two times during the process of using Sitefinity that I get browser hangs, I would like to try to figure out what is going on.
The first is when clicking on Edit This Page after clicking on a page in the sitemap. The progress bar in FF doesn't move at all, while in IE the progress bar moves very slowly, and the little spinning thing in the tab just keeps spinning. Right now I have been trying to edit a page for about 5 minutes and the edit page screen hasn't loaded. If I click the link again, the edit page screen loads normally.
The second time is when adding a control to a page. This happens with any control, whether standard from Sitefinity, from Goondocks or custom controls that I have added. I get the hang after either dragging a control onto the page, or when using the add control button down at the bottom. I can get around this by using the refresh button on the browser after adding the control, the page loads normally and the control appears in the content area. This is happening with both the default Sitefinity template, and Templates that I have added myself. This hang also occurs when deleting controls from a page, it also happens when editing in classic mode as well as editing in overlay mode.
Actually, this might not be an actual hang, as I was writing this I was letting the Edit this page button spin in the background and it finall went through. So it looks like it is taking somewhere longer than 10 mins for the edit page button to actually work. Using Visual Studio I can't start debugging on the site because of a Network Bios Command Limit, so determining where in the code the hang is happening is not something I am sure how to do. The hang when adding a control may actually be an honest to god hang, as the page has now been loading for 15 minutes with no change. I will post an update if the control addition actually goes through without my hitting the refresh button.
Can anyone shed any light on the problems I am having?
