Is there a mechanism to have drop-down or flyout menus in the menu?

    Hi Ron,

If you are using the SiteMenu control then yes it will automatically do this for you, it binds to the sitemap so as soon as you create child pages the "fly outs/dropdowns" will work.  It is basically the RadMenu control which you have the functionality to customise.

Thanks, I see that function. I am using currently the community template which uses the tabstrip. I changed it to the site menu and that seemed to activate the dropdown as you suggested. I changed the page to a group page and added external pages as children which gave me the links to the other sites.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Can I ask a further question to follow on from the above discussion?

Is it possible/easy to have two alternative ways to deal with menus and child pages running side-by-side.

What I'm trying to say is:

Imagine a web page where the site's main menu structure uses dropdown menus - allowing dropdown access to all/any "child" pages from that main menu.

But then if you then visit one of those "child" pages, then and further "child" pages off of that first "child" (reaching a third level) are displayed not as a dropdown off the main - but instead just as a second separate menu list elsewhere within that page.

    Regards,
    Martin.

    Hi Martin,

Yes this is simple enough, actually if you look at the sample site (Telerik University) that comes with Sitefinity that already has a working example.  You will notice that it uses a RadTabstrip control for the main navigation and then they have a RadPanelBar on the left site with the "sub navigation" which are the child pages.  Basically because Sitefinity uses the SiteMapDataSource you can take full advantage of that to create whatever scenario you need with very little coding.

The sample sites code can be found in the Project Manager of Sitefinity once you have installed it.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Georgi,

These links look like they are broken.
