    Hi,

Could you help us to limiting the news posted for a defined Username in generic Modules like News or define max post for a defined Role to limiting the post allowed to this role.

    Thanks.

    Hi Pierre,

    Thanks for contacting us.

You can set view permissions on the Generic Content based modules, such as News and Blogs, based on a user's role. This way, you can block news stories from a certain role. In this case, however, you want to block news categories by role. Am I correct? Although this cannot be done out of the box, you could add a news provider for each news category and then deny view permissions on that instance of the News Module. For more info, please read Adding Providers and Module Permissions in our User Manual.

I hope that this provides a solution to your technical issue. Feel free to contact us if you need further assistance, Romi.

    Kind regards,
    Joe

Could you elaborate on your issue? Do you mean you want certain roles to see a fixed number of news stories, like 10, while other roles can see 20 stories? Do you want to limit users ability to view certain stories? At this time, Sitefinity does not allow you to limit by news story, for example, which articles can be seen by which roles. In other words, you cannot limit Role A's access to news story 1, but you can limit role A's access to the news module itself.

    Hi John,
this is a sample in Admin side of News Module. ControlPanelList Mode
Role : Provider1 ( Create,Delete,Mod posts in provider of GC news)
Storing one integer in UserName profil as allowedposts=int,
User1 in role provider1 no limitation in Username can see all post is chief
User2 in role provider1 allowed for 5 post can see only our post
User3 in role provider1 allowed for 3 post can see only our post
I need to manage privacy between User2 and User3.
User writers are controlled by Username and by Roles.
Only number limitation, and User with numberlimitation can see only our post.

User 4 is Editor provider2, not see post of provider1 by Role/Provider limitation (normal sf feature by securised providers).

    Regards

    Hi Pierre,

    Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, this is impossible. Although you can limit the type of stories a user can see using the provider model shown previously, you cannot limit the number of stories a user can see based on permissions. If there are 15 stories in the Sports Category, then the user will see all 15 stories. You cannot make a user see 10 stories based on one role and 5 stories based on another role.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    Best wishes,
    Joe
