I have watched the video "How to create new content types using Generic Content Modules" which has inspired me to want to create a new content type based around the news module. However I would like the ability to target this new content to specific users similar to displaying the licence keys from " - Your account".

Can anyone give an tips on the best way to accomplish this, or is this a wait for version 4.0 which supports granular permissions?

    Hi Ben Hall,

Thank you for using our services.

What you could do in the current architecture would be to define roles which can see the control. If the user is logged in and belongs to either of the roles than the public content view control is rendered if not then do not render the control. You can take a look at this blog post for some tips on how to achieve this: Roles Selector and hiding control based on user's roles.

If you however wish to have further security implementations you should wait for Sitefinity 4.0.

    All the best,
