    Hi,
I'm trying to use the external templates of the builtin modules. I want to use all of them, so what I did after I downloaded them was copy the configuration file to the proper forlder in the app_data folder, and copied all the other files to their respective locations. Didn't change anything in any of the files. Now when I try to login to the administration site, I get the following error

Could not find a type for a name.  The type name was 'Telerik.Libraries.WebControls.Design.ImageGalleryDesigner'.

I can't seem to find the usercontrol with this name among the files that I downloaded. Am I missing something here?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Wessam,

The error is thrown from ImageGalleryDesigner control. Please check whether you have the follwing line in your ControlsConfig file

     <viewSettings hostType="Telerik.Libraries.WebControls.Design.ImageGalleryDesigner" layoutTemplatePath="~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Libraries/ImageGalleryControlDesigner.ascx" />

Make sure that the hosttype is properly set to Telerik.Libraries.WebControls.Design.ImageGalleryDesigner

I already have that line in the ControlsConfig file.

Is it possible that I have the wrong verions of external templates deployed on the wrong version of sitefinity?

I have Sitefinity 3.6 installed, and I downloaded the following zip file for the external templates
    Sitefinity_3_6_1936_standard_ExternalTemplates.zip

    Hello Wessam,

The error is thrown when the hostType in your configuration file is not correct. Could you tell us which build of 3.6 you are using - How to check your current Sitefinity version? Please, send us the configuration file and screenshot of the error and stack trace.

    Sincerely yours,
    Ivan Dimitrov

Thanks Ivan, I fixed the issue by removing the templates in the admin folder, since I needed only the public controls only.

    Another question.
Is there a way to add multiple templates for the same module. For example, I want to display News items on the website in 2 different places, each having a different design. I modified the ListPageMaster.ascx News template to display news items the way I want, but I want to display them in a totally different way on another part of the website, so I was thinking me  be I can add a different template to the news module.

    Hello Wessam,

You can control the appearance of each ContentView based control using its properties. You can have multiple control instance with different ListPageMaster and ListPageDetail templtes. You can set the templates from Advance tab of the control >> Appearance >> SingleItemTemplate path and ItemListTemplatePath properties. Both the properties use WebEditor, so you can navigate to your templates.

Sorry to be a pain, but I can not remember where I saw the download for these external templates (and a forum search didn't really turn them up). Would you mind a link here?

    Hello Nigel,

Login to MyClient.net account and go to Downloads section. There you will find the external templates zip.
