Hi David Yardy,
In order to provide site navigation with RadMenu
, the default scenario is to setup a SiteMapDataSource
Control, drop a RadMenu/RadTabstrip on the page, and set its DataSourceID property to the ID of the SiteMapDataSource. The SiteMapDataSource
control automatically gets the sitemap structure for your project. This, however, has been made easier with the navigation user controls, coming with Sitefinity after SP1. They wrap up the functionality of SiteMapDataSource
and Telerik navigation controls and provide codeless navigation setup.
If you are looking at the navigation in our sample TIU site, yes, it uses these user controls. If you want to use them for your own project, just drop one on a page or template and it is ready out-of-the-box. However, make sure that you use Site Tabstrip,
instead of RadTabstrip, or the analogous user control. The names of these controls in the toolbox are: Site Tabstrip
, Site Panelbar
, Site Menu
, Site Treeview
All user controls are available in the Navigation
section in the Toolbox by default. You can also edit their code. They are located in the /Sitefinity/UserControls
folder of your project. In the next release we will provide documentation for using them.
I hope this answers your question.
All the best,
the Telerik team
