    I have downloaded the trial version of Sitefinity 3.0, in working through setting up different features I could not find documentation for how to configure and access RSS Syndication.  Can someone provide me the steps to using this feature?

    Hi Brian Brodhagen,

    Thank you for downloading our product. In order to provide RSS syndication for content from your site, you need to put a RSS Content Control on a template that your pages use. Currently, there is an issue with the control and you can only use it in templates, not pages. This will be fixed for future releases.
    The steps are the following:

    1. Create a new template or open one for editing.
    2. From the toolbox, drop an RSS Content Control on the template
    3. Edit the RSS Content control and set the following properties:
        - Channels - select the content to syndicate (for example you blog)
        - ChannelDescription - provide a description for your RSS Feed
        - ChannelTitle - provide a title for your RSS Feed
        - ChannelLink - set the absolute path of the page where your content is displayed (for example the page where your blog posts are listed)
        - Singletree - set the url of the page where single items are displayed (might be the same as ChannelLink)

    After you have set all these properties, your RSS feed is ready to work. When you open a page using the template you just edited, you can check that by clicking the RSS Feed link.

    All the best,

    Thank you for your response.  The problem I'm having is I cannot find the RSS Content Control in the list of controls.  How can I get this control?

    Hello Brian,

    If you upgrade to Service Pack 1 you will be able to find it in Blogs section on the toolbox. Otherwise you need add it manually to your web.config.

    <toolboxControls>
      <add name="RSS" section="Blogs" type="Telerik.Cms.Engine.WebControls.RssContent, Telerik.Cms.Engine"/>
    …

    Thanks again, this information helps.  I also need information on setting up RSS Feeds. Is there a guide that describes how to setup both RSS Syndication and RSS Feeds?

    Hello Brian Brodhagen,

    In order to have an RSS Feed for content in your site, there must be an RSS Provider implemented for that content. Currently, there is a provider for the blogs that you create with the Sitefinity Blogs module. For future versions we will implement providers for the other content items like Generic Content, News, Lists.
    Once you have a provider, everything is handled automatically. You just need to select the provider that you want to use. This is done when selecting channels for your RSS Content control. Edit the control, then click the 'Select' button near the Channels property. This will open a window for selecting channels. In the top left, there is a dropdown list for choosing an RSS provider. Currently it displays only blogs. Choose the provider and then the control will handle Syndication automatically.
