I'm trying to evaluate this product for our company, and the feature to search the contents of pdfs and docs is extremely vital. From what I have read it is not a built in feature of the product but it can be done. Could someone please explain or show me documentation on how to get this working? All of the posts I have seen appear to be outdated and not exactly straight forward....any help would be greatly appreciated!

From what I understand. This functionality will be included in version 4. If anyone has a way to do ithis before that release, I'd also love to see it.

    Hi guys,

Generally, this feature is going to be implemented in Sitefinity 4.0. Yes, it can be implemented now as well - by creating a custom search (indexing) provider. Each providers task is to extract the text from the documents/pages and provide them to the indexer.
Please take a look at the following webinar - - it explains what should be done in such cases.
    I hope this helps.
    Sincerely yours,
