this is just an idea I had that might help developers especially those who need to test something locally before publishing.

I am constantly creating new user controls to drop onto sitefinity pages, unfortunately each one has to be registered in web.config, which means my application will restart (not good for a site that must remain live). additionally, since my local web.config is different that my live one, it means I have to go into the live site and manually edit the web.config to include the control.

I think it would be great to have an option to designate a folder so that any UserControls located there will automatically show up in the Control Toolbox. I realize this might cause a performance hit as it would have to read them each time...

just an idea, any thoughts? thanks!

    Hi SelArom,

This will be resolved in Sitefinity 4.0, where the web.config will be much more smaller and the user controls will be registered in a different place.

Other than that, you can add your user controls via the user interface, rather than editing the live site web.config file.

    Sincerely yours,
    the Telerik team
